- Ted Burnside studied animal genetics and is a retired Professor Emeritus from the University of Guelph. He founded a Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock in the mid-80's, which has given leadership to improvement of Canadian domesticated animal and sea stocks for more than 3 decades. He has published widely on man's attempts to select animals for special functions. Upon retirement Ted's interest in form and function of animals led him to begin painting with acrylics on canvas to illustrate how selection and the environment can shape animals for specific functions. Ted is a member of the Manotick Art Association, studies painting with a faculty member of Algonquin College, and at the Calladium Art Centre, Lake Placid, Florida, in winter months. Ted is interested in doing portraits of your favourite pet, cow, horse or rural scenes.
